50th anniversary interview with Andy Gibbs AKA 'Jahman' AKA 'Gibby' - founder of Liverpool's oldest continuous foundation Reggae sound system : King Struggler Sound (formerly known as 'Crasher') - which was established in 1974 in the Toxteth area of Liverpool, UK.....
The interview in the first 14 mins of this video was filmed by brothers Errol Graham & Patrick Graham (from 'Black Out Productions') in 2022 as part of their ongoing documentary project called 'Ghettology - L8 Sound Systems' about the history of Liverpool's Reggae sound systems.....
Also featured in the interviews is Stephen Nze AKA 'The Principal' - who for some years was part of the King Struggler crew back in the day....
With both Errol & Patrick's permission I edited the interviews by adding some photographs & archive footage of King Struggler Sound. I also asked Andy Gibbs (AKA 'Jahman') to send me nearly one hour's worth of video footage of King Struggler's dubplate special collection - so that anyone who wasn't familiar with the sound could appreciate the calibre of dubplates that the sound has recorded over the years. Big Respect goes out to Jahman for sending me the video of the dubplate selection at such short notice ! ....
Big Respect goes out to Michelle Walker for the archive footage of King Struggler...
BIG MASSIVE RESPECT goes out to Guvna Gregah who used his technical skills to edit the video to add the photographs, archive footage & dubplate footage - as well as enhancing the audio quality and adding the captions in the video - so that this unique record of Liverpool's foundation Reggae sound system could be shared with everyone - BIG UP SIR ! ...
