Paul Carrack is an acclaimed English singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, renowned for his soulful voice and exceptional musical versatility. Born on April 22, 1951, in Sheffield, England, Carrack's career spans over five decades, making him a significant figure in rock and pop music. Carrack first gained attention as the lead vocalist for Ace, a British rock band that scored a major hit in 1974 with the single "How Long". This song showcased Carrack's distinctive voice and became a defining track of the era. In the 1980s, Carrack joined Mike & The Mechanics, a band formed by Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford. With them, he sang on several of their biggest hits, including "Silent Running" and the emotionally charged "The Living Years". Carrack had also a successful solo career. Carrack's contributions to music also extend to his collaborations with other major artists, including Eric Clapton, Squeeze, and Roxy Music. “Dedicated” came from his fourth album “Groove Approved” and was a only released in The Netherlands due to a live performance of Paul with the song in the TV program “Countdown Café”. The B-side contained this live-track. This live performance was taped in the Dutch TV program “Tafkas” on February 20, 1998 and was a special collaboration with Dutch musician Marcel de Groot.
