- **Historical Context:** The Stairways was a gloomy disco in the 80s located in Hamburg's alternative 'Schanzenviertel'. It was part of the so-called 'Bermuda Triangle' near the Reeperbahn, along with the pubs "Pickenpack" and "Zartbitter". Abortive Gasp was one of the three 'bunker bands' of the Schanzenviertel, alongside 'Girls under Glass' and 'Cancer Barrack'. Despite its significance in the local alternative scene, the Stairways club does not hold the same historical fame as some other notable Hamburg venues like the Indra Club, Kaiserkeller, or the Star-Club, which were famous for early performances by The Beatles and other influential bands during the 1960s.
