Dark smoky beats and grungy guitar riffs. Inspired by the #morktober and Tania Herrero's day 30 entry for it, which you can see in the video background. Took a bit from an old classic - a song with the same title from In Mourning's 2010 release Monolith, which I adore. The opening upstroke chord on the clean guitar for some reason sounds really smoky when layered on some moody 808s and dissonant drones on top.
And then I got the itch to play some more guitar and riffed a bit with the hairiest, grungiest, filthiest tone I could muster on the day. Layered that with the close up recording of the picking hand to get all the gnarly string noises and artifacts to add some bite.
