
Disclaimer: this isn’t in reference to talk therapy being any therapy that involves talking. That would be silly. When I say talk therapy, I’m talking about therapy that relies on talking as the main (even sole) intervention - ie, processing, validating, unstructured with very little to no interventions strategically placed. This also doesn’t apply to every single person because human beings and mental health are nuanced and there are exceptions to every rule - HOWEVER, that does not mean we stray from science, what generally works best for MOST populations in MOST scenarios, etc. In general, for most people, simple and unstructured talk therapy without the addition of evidence based strategies can be a slippery slope that could very likely end up in you feeling like nothing is changing / feeling like things are in fact getting worse. Discussion, rapport building, AND EVIDENCE BASED STRATEGIES are all critical pieces to a great recovery mix. 🤌 Last thing, this reel is about OCD and anxiety, not trauma, not depression, not anything else outside of what it says.
