During the last UN General Assembly, Kenyan President Ruto volunteered the Kenya police force to lead a UN mission in Haiti to curb gun violence. Although the news was met with concerns from both citizens of Haiti and Kenya, who saw the decision as a poor move by President Ruto and reinforced the notion that he was a Western puppet, the Kenyan Police force was still mobilized for the mission in Kenya. And, on the 25th of June, 2024, the first contingent of 200 elite Kenyan police officers flew into Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince. Since then, they have been in the country battling with the armed gangs in Haiti to reduce gang violence. Recently the Kenyan police force together with the Haitian police force launched an offensive against the gangs in the districts of Bel-Air and Solino and gained a significant victory with several gang members reported dead.
