
Ms Moore-Gilbert spent 804 days in a brutal Iranian prison after she was seized and interrogated by Revolutionary guards in September 2018 when she attempted to board a plane to Australia from Iran.
"This brutal authoritarian regime in Iran has lost all popular legitimacy," Ms Moore-Gilbert told Sky News host Erin Molan.
"The very real national security threats that have emerged internally in Iran are a direct result of that; we have a situation in Iran today where the general populace is willing to actively work with Iran's enemies against its own government."
