The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, also known as the Gujarat Hybrid Renewable Energy Park, is a large-scale project in Gujarat, India that will generate electricity from solar and wind power:
Location
The park is located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, near the international border with Pakistan.
Size
The park is spread over 72,600 hectares (726 km2), which is similar in size to Bangalore.
Capacity
The park will have a capacity of 30 gigawatt (GW) of electricity generation.
Powering capacity
The park will be able to power around 18 million homes.
Developers
The project is being developed by Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), Gujarat Industrial Power Company Limited (GIPCL), Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
Benefits
The park will offset around 58 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
