Thank you for watching!Illinois may soon have a new flag. The current Illinois flag was adopted in 1969, though the design dates back to 1915. In 2024, the Illinois Flag Commission held a public contest to redesign the flag. In December of 2024, the commission announced the 10 finalists. Beginning in January of 2025, people will be able to vote online for their favorite design, opt to keep the current flag, or cast their vote for either the 1918 Centennial Flag or the 1968 Sesquicentennial Flag.
