What a week for photographing (and seeing with my naked eyes) astronomical rarities in light-polluted NYC!

Last week was the Northern Lights blitz and this week is the Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet.

Comets are frozen leftovers from the formation of the solar system composed of dust, rock, and ice.

Apparently, this is the brightest comet in the last 13 years and visible to the naked eye!

The "comet of the century", has an orbit of 80,000 years.

What astronomical rarity will be next??
