Last weekend I went down to Detroit to play the world-renowned Do-Over party (originally from L.A., producing their 10th annual event in Detroit) during "Movement", a music festival (and weekend) that strongly reflects Detroit's strong electronic music roots, past and present.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 48 hours in the city, some of which I recap in this video. It included partying-while-drinking-and-digging at Spot Lite, an awesome multi-purpose venue in the city that I hope to return to sooner than later. I took home about 20 records, ranging from disco 12" to hip-hop 12" to jazz LPs - and finally to one of the smallest categories in my ever-expanding collection: Haitian records!

I lived in Montreal for 5 years, where there is a large Haitian population, and came across a few records from various eras that interested me, but none so much as this Scoprio "Ensem Ensem" LP that I found at Spot Lite. I flip through many tracks of the LP here in this instalment of Record of the Week. How does it sound to you? Are you surprised at the contents of the LP? Like it? Pass? Whatever your answer, you can't deny that this is a fun activity. Digging for life!
