Amy Holland is an American pop rock singer and songwriter known for her smooth, melodic voice and her work both as a solo artist and as a collaborator with other musicians. She was born Amy Celeste Boersma on August 15, 1953, in Palisades, New York. Holland began her career in the late 1970s and gained recognition in 1980 with her debut self-titled album Amy Holland, which included the hit single “How Do I Survive.” The song earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

She is also known for her marriage to Michael McDonald, the former lead singer of The Doobie Brothers, with whom she has frequently collaborated throughout her career. Holland contributed vocals to several of McDonald’s solo projects, as well as soundtracks for popular films in the 1980s such as Scarface and Teen Wolf.

After a hiatus from releasing solo work, she returned in the early 2000s with albums like The Journey to Miracle River (2008) and Light On My Path (2016), which showcase her mature vocal style and lyrical depth. Her music blends elements of pop, rock, adult contemporary, and soft jazz, characterized by heartfelt lyrics and warm, expressive vocals.

Amy Holland remains respected in the music industry for her talent, resilience, and contributions as both a performer and a collaborator.
