The Turkish government has raised concerns over the presence of the Fethullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO) in Nigeria, with the group allegedly using schools and health services as a cover for its operations. Turkish Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, made this disclosure during a dinner in Abuja marking Turkey’s Democracy and National Unity Day. Poroy emphasised that through international cooperation, Turkey has successfully disrupted many FETO cells worldwide. He also mentioned that several institutions associated with FETO have been taken over by Turkish institutions.
To provide more insight into this development, we are joined by Darlington Umoru, a security analyst from Lagos, to discuss the realness of this threat and what steps Nigeria should take to address it.
