on a libretto by Luigi Illica, Giuseppe Giacosa and Marco Praga,
based on The History of the Chevalier des Grieux and Manon Lescaut (1731) by Abbé Prévost,
from a sketch by Ruggero Leoncavallo and with a complement by Domenico Oliva,
premiered on February 1, 1893 at the Teatro Regio in Turin
