It's fair to say that Season 8 has had a lot of mixed responses and I'm leaning more towards the bad side. If you look at the episodes on their own, and just judge them based on that one episode alone then they are good episodes, but when you throw in 7 seasons of backstory and build up, all of the plot points are just being rushed (*cough* Night King *cough*) and character motivations are all over the place.
If you watched any of the behind the scenes for Season 8, you'll see how much work has gone into the season, but the writing has been rushed so I'd say it'll go in history as one of the most disappointing endings to a great show.
