🔺 The glassy leads have been popularized by the Virus Ti synthesizer and its grain oscillator algorithm. It’s one of those distinct sounds in Psytrance music that many, including me, have been working hard to recreate outside of the Virus.

With the release of Vital and its advanced sound manipulation algorithms, new ways of synthesizing those leads were discovered, pushing their timbre to a whole new psychedelic level.

🟢 For Vital, we need a wavetable similar to the Sundial1 from the Virus Ti wavetables folder (you can easily find those wavetables online to download). The whole trick lies in setting the oscillator to unison mode with the maximum number of voices (16 in this case), detuning those voices to the maximum in both the oscillator and the advanced sections.

✅ Now, all you need to do is modulate the oscillator detuning power with an LFO (random, cyclic, or manual—up to you) and filter the sound with your favorite filter. I went with a bandpass 24dB/oct filter.

✅ Enjoy the sound with either a big reverb or a delay.
