Thirteenth Badr is the day when the people of Iran, regardless of the hustle and bustle of urban life and their daily lives, leave their hearts in the arms of nature and celebrate Nowruz in the midst of greenery and rivers. This celebration, which is also known as "Nature Day", has deep roots in the culture and ancient history of this land, and Iranians have been celebrating it for thousands of years in the heart of the plains and mountains as a sign of connection with the earth and the sky.
A memorable day with Fatima and Vahid
This year, together with Fatemeh and Vahid, a couple of warm-hearted Iranian villagers, we are going to the heart of green nature to experience Sizdeh Badr in an authentic and joyful way. Fatemeh's kind grandmother, with her old stories, gives warmth to this period, and her little brother, with his childish enthusiasm and energy, fills the crowd with joy.
Next to a clear river, under the shade of old trees, a colorful table spreads; Fresh village breads, cool local buttermilk, noodle soup cooked by grandmother's artist hands, and a grill that sends fragrant smoke to the sky over the charcoal fire. The people of the village have also come to this celebration with hundreds and even thousands of people; Children's laughter, local songs, traditional dances and group games create an atmosphere of empathy and happiness.
Lasting customs
Amidst the excitement, young girls drop knotted greens into the running water, wishing for good days and romantic bonds. Children play with colorful kites in the sky, and old men and women think about the distant past and their childhood memories with a look full of memories.
This day is not just a simple excursion; Sizdeh Badr is a cultural heritage, a celebration of life and a renewal of the pact with nature. From small villages to big cities, everyone comes together to remove the dust of sadness from life with a happy and light heart and continue the New Year with new hope.
Today, along with Fatima, Vahid, the kind grandmother and the enthusiastic village crowd, we also have a share of this ancient celebration. So let's tie the greens, join hands, and send off the thirteen with laughter and joy!
