🌍 The Story Behind the Album:
After their groundbreaking debut introduced the world to their Cuban-Congolese fusion, CONCUBANAS embarked on a European tour in 1974. Inspired by their experiences in Paris and the African diaspora community there, they decided to record their second album as a musical journey from Havana to Paris, incorporating French chanson and American funk influences into their signature Afro-Cuban sound.
This album represents the group at their creative peak - three years after Marcel Boungou and Ramon Hernández's fateful meeting during that cultural exchange program, their vision of music that truly represented "living together" had fully matured.
🎺 Historical Notes:
"Congo Habana Express" features the group's trademark Cuban tres/Congolese guitar dialogue
"Lágrimas en París" showcases Elena Torres's stunning multilingual vocals (Spanish/French/Lingala)
"Fuego en la Pista" became a dancefloor anthem at the Tropicana Club
The album won the Cuban Music Award for "Best Fusion Album" in 1975
