The research could allow astronauts to use laser 3D printing to quickly make replacement parts in zero gravity while on the International Space Station, rather than having parts shipped from Earth. 🌎 Principle Investigator of this project, Nirmala Kandadai, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Oregon State, is working with the project that is led out of NASA MSFC by the On Demand Manufacturing of Electronics (ODME) and funded by NASA STMD (Science and Technology Mission Directorate).
Assisting in this research is Ellie Schlake, a doctoral student in electrical and computer engineering at Oregon State.
