Paul Clarke, known as DJ Dougal, is a DJ & producer from Northampton, UK. Dougal started out as a teenager, mixing House. Whilst doing his work experience with Spectra Sound & Lighting, he assisted with putting in sound systems for ESP Promotions - run by Murray Beetson. Beetson would book him to play at an ESP night, where he would later become a resident at Equinox Milwaukees. He continued with ESP becoming the resident at their other nights, especially Dreamcape at the Sanctuary (where he also regularly played at Helter Skelter).

In 1994, he co-founded Essential Platinum with Hixxy, and has regularly contributed to the mix series Bonkers. As well as DJing and producing, he also co-owns the Borjia nightclub in Northampton.
His sister is Sarah Clarke and his father is the rave photographer Gary Clarke

Dreamscape was a legendary rave throughout the 1990s, first held 6 December 1991 at what would become known as the Sanctuary Music Arena. Originally founded and run by Murray Beetson (RIP) of ESP PROMOTIONS until his untimely death on 16th March 1996 as a result of a car accident. Beetson had been running nights at Milwaukees, Bedfordshire (Fun House Promotions) but sought a larger venue when the warehouse on Denbigh Leisure Park, Saxon Street, Milton Keynes came available.

After his death, management of Dreamscape would then pass to Steve Foster who had also been involved in its running with Beetson. The promoters Slammin' Vinyl were also briefly involved in managing events/merchandise. In its latter years, Jim Tang owned the ESP/Dreamscape name. A 20th Anniversary night was held in 2011 at the Roadmender, Northampton, with a reunion rave planned in 2014, but this fell through.
