As a solo instrument artist, the direction creator Barry Murray wanted to take Skellig was a minimalist, isolated, nihilistic tide of distorted riffs, sludged out atmospherics and a haunting ambience.
Whether this sound was a purposely built construction of hermetic oneness with one's own thought patterns and processes, or just an egocentric mid life crisis being flexed, this caustic expression of freedom through nihilism is a cacophonous release from reality.
We're all drowning in this swill together, this fuzzed out drone scape of ethereal sludge is the realisation that there will never be any helping hands to save us.
All our failures are concentric.
Every plaudit is a reversion.
Only your own failures are interminable.
Such a hovel our time here is, make of it what you will.
