YBCA’s CultureBank initiative is a bold new strategy that places artists at the center of community investment, with pilots currently underway in three regions—the Bay Area, Dallas, and Kansas City. Our goal is to demonstrate a new approach to achieving an equitable future and healthier outcomes for cities and for people delivered by artists as the catalytic key to the change we seek.

With CultureBank, we are collaborating with artists and innovative investors to define, test, and scale creative artist-first investment strategies that steward health and resilience in neighborhoods left behind by traditional community investment. The focus of CultureBank’s work is to empower and magnify the voices of these communities specifically through the voices of artists in these communities, who have lived in them and know them deeply.
