On 1 October 1970, Palestinian guerrillas in the Lebanese capital of Beirut took to the streets to honour Gamal Abdel Nasser, the late Egyptian leader and champion of Arab nationalism. ITN's Desmond Hamill observed as a procession of thousands moved its way through the city, and men fired rifles and handguns into the sky in tribute to the man who had dominated the region's politics for nearly 20 years.
