-- ENG -- In 2023, we featured @katatoniaband in the cover of METAL OBS Magazine for their previous album Sky Void Of Stars (@napalmrecords). This was the last album with its original guitarist and founder Anders "Blackheim" Nyström, who was still more or less in the Swedish progressive gothic metal combo. Replaced for a few years now both in the studio and on stage by Roger Öjersson, then Sebastian Svalland, he is now accompanied by the ex-guitarist of ENTOMBED and ENTOMBED A.D. (also ex-FIRESPAWN) whom we know well, Nico Elgstrand, even if for a long time, it is the singer (and ex-bassist) Jonas Renkse who has been the true leader of KATATONIA. Our Swedish friends resurface in 2025 with Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State (@napalmrecords), a fourteenth album more sinuous and complex but still dark and groovy than it seems on which the friendly guitarist Nico Elgstrand had to completely adapt his playing as he explained to us in this no-nonsense and relaxed interview from his home studio in Stockholm...

-- FR -- En 2023, nous avions mis à l'honneur KATATONIA en couverture de METAL OBS Magazine pour leur précédent album Sky Void Of Stars. Ce fut alors le dernier album avec son guitariste originel et fondateur Anders "Blackheim" Nyström qui officiait plus ou moins encore dans le combo suédois de gothic metal progressif. Remplacé depuis quelques années déjà à la fois en studio comme sur scène par Roger Öjersson, puis Sebastian Svalland, celui-ci est désormais accompagné de l'ex-guitariste d'ENTOMBED et ENTOMBED A.D. (également ex-FIRESPAWN) que nous connaissons bien, Nico Elgstrand, même si depuis longtemps, c'est le chanteur (et ex-bassiste) Jonas Renkse le véritable leader de KATATONIA.
