I give in I give up
I knuckle under
almost
I don't know which way to go
'cause I'm confused
It didn't use to be this way
It's hard every day
almost
I say to myself so only I can hear
Hang in there
in the middle of nowhere
when no one cares
'Cause then there's a chance
This is the very first spoken word piece I wrote, back in 1994. I thought of it for a program a friend was pitching for teens. The voice was recorded about 6 years ago. Then this year, I started playing around with the video - first as if the piece were in a book, and then I thought of an image. A long journey!
ALMOST: hope poem, poem on hope, about keeping going even when feeling down.
