As of 9pm, and for nearly two hours, Jarre spread his magic with his signature giant LED 3D videos, architectural lighting and an impressive array of lasers, all perfectly synchronised to his energetic live performance on stage, where his instruments were powered by solar energy.
For the occasion, JMJ designed a bespoke kinetic laser installation over 12 buildings of the City’s new skyline, which was visible to the entire capital.
Kicking off with a massive laser projection countdown on the buildings, Jarre captivated his audience from the very first note and had all generations cheering and clapping relentlessly throughout this truly singular evening for all present.
It is reported that over 50000 people shared Jarre’s “Green Concert” live.
The concert was also broadcast live on television, by Saudi TV and El Ekhbaria for the all Middle-East.
The Green Concert performance aims to beautifully simulate the Kingdom’s future and portray the vision of HRH Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. Furthermore, it symbolizes environmental values and ambitions adopted by the Kingdom in regards to renewable energy and a better future for the planet. Jarre’s central stage-set was powered entirely by solar energy harvested from solar panels in a representation of such environmental conservation aspirations.
Globally acclaimed Jean-Michel Jarre is a four-time Guinness world record holder for largest concert-events ever performed, and is also a United Nations UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Environment and Education. Jarre sold more than 80 million albums worldwide, and is renowned for his groundbreaking concerts performed at historical landmarks across the world.
JMJ "I am happy today to have achieved my Green Concert with such a great success and welcome, here in Riyad, to accompany this period of transition within the Kingdom.
I am convinced as an artist that it is important to contribute to positive changes, helping the young generations of women and men to shape a better future." #thegreenconcert #together
