But ultimately decided to stay on the grid! We found that batteries for solar are extremely expensive and our house is not oriented in a way to maximize solar potential. If we do add solar down the road, we can install it on a shop or barn and sell the excess power back to the grid.There may be different requirements for your electric service install depending on where you live so make sure to check with your service provider and local authorities.
The wire pull, transform install, and hook up were all performed by the electric service company and that was about half of the total cost.
