Follow the breadcrumbs... Samples are the best. Clip from my Tuesday Morning Coffee Full episode:

This week's Record Of The Week took us down a crazy wormhole, connecting the dots through various hip-hop artists in the 90s & 2000s. Follow along and see if you can put it together as we go along. Artists featured: Hieroglyphics, Beastie Boys, Black Sheep, Cypress Hill, Johnny Hammond, The Bar-Kays, Tony Alvin & the Bel-Airs, and more.

It all starts with a record from a band from the Southside of Chicago. Southside Movement's "Movin' South". I single out two tracks: "Funk Talk" & "I've Been Watching You". Check the video for more commentary & context if you're a music junkie like myself :)
