▪️ Formulation matters
Creamy formulations are better tolerated than serum ones especially in dry or sensitive skin.
A 2 % in a creamy formulation maybe more gentle than 1% in a toner , essence or serum form
▪️Supportive ingredients are important
When using actives then look for other ingredients with soothing properties. For example: a plain glycolic acid serum at 6% may be harsh on some skin but if it is formulated with allantoin, Panthenol and niacinamide then it reduces the irritation potential of the active ingredient.
▪️Start with a lower concentration
If you have sensitive skin then always start with a lower percentage, see how you can tolerate it and if required increase it . You can also continue the same percentage and you will be able to see results.
▪️Higher concentration doesn’t mean better
Everyone is just trying to using a higher percentage as soon as they tolerate a product. This is not required. Higher percentage also means more irritation which can cause inflammation and prolonged inflammation could hasten the process of aging. So if there is a percentage that suits you then you can stick to it .
▪️Concentration depends on areas used
Over body parts with thicker skin or in men with thicker skin, we can use a higher concentration of active ingredients.
✅always read labels. The ingredient are mentioned in descending order of their concentration in the product.
