I visited Crestone Colorado to do a story on the largest intentional, interfaith, and ecumenical retreat center and sustainable teaching community in North America. The 'Place of the Heart' has been set up by the Manitou Foundation, which has granted over 2000 acres of land to various spiritual, educational, and environmental groups. This story is to come, as the founder, Hanne Strong, now lives in Toronto.

In the meantime, here is a video I filmed on the streets of Crestone.
Seamus Navarro is a traveling Beat Poet. An interesting mix of Celtic and Native American ancestry, he makes his traveling money quoting poems to people on the street.

I was lucky to capture Seamus reciting one of his poems. I can't guarantee Seamus's description of Crestone is correct, but I must say I'm impressed with how he manages to fund his travels.

In a time when the internet has flatlined talent, where anyone with a knowledge of SEO can rise to the top of any search term, it's great that people like Seamus still exist. Like a bard of old, with a twinkle in his eye, I kinda like the idea that somewhere out there in America, Seamus is pulling the same line he pulled on me, on someone else!

A salesmen, a poet and a traveler!
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.

Ethics statement: I made a donation of $5 for Seamus's poem recital
