Pro-Palestinian protests across US highways halt traffic, cause delays

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators across the U.S. gathered on Monday to block major freeways, bridges and transit hubs, resulting in mass traffic jams and delays in several cities.

Protesters united at landmark locations like San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, calling for the government to stop funding and arming Israel’s military.

The demands come more than six months after Israel retaliated to a fatal attack by Hamas militants in southern Israel on Oct. 7, where more than 1,200 Israelis were killed and roughly 240 were taken hostage.

Since then, Israel’s sustained military campaign in Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 33,750 Palestinians and left hundreds of thousands without homes or many of the basic necessities of life.
