In this video, learn how to build a simple DC motor speed controller using just a D718 power transistor, a B10K potentiometer, and a 12V battery. This circuit lets you control the speed of a 12V DC motor smoothly by adjusting the voltage at the transistor base — no need for PWM modules or ICs like 555 or LM317.

🔌 Power Supply: 12V Car Battery (or 12V DC Adapter)
🔩 Main Components:

B10K Potentiometer (linear type)

D718 NPN Power Transistor

12V DC Motor

⚙️ How It Works:
The potentiometer adjusts the base voltage of the transistor D718, which in turn controls how much current is passed to the motor. As you turn the knob, the motor speed increases or decreases based on the amount of base bias given to the transistor.

💡 Applications:
RC car DIY

Small fan speed control

Educational electronics project

Solar-powered motor setups

Battery-powered motor speed controller

⚠️ Notes & Tips:
Add a heat sink to D718 if running for long periods or under high current

You can replace D718 with TIP31, TIP122, 2N3055 if desired

Works best for motors under 3A

If motor doesn’t start at low speed, increase the battery voltage slightly or reduce load
