The Death Korps of Krieg comprises Astra Militarum regiments hailing from the irradiated, war-torn planet of Krieg in Segmentum Tempestus. Renowned for their expertise in trench warfare, sieges, and combat in hostile environments, they frequently serve in the Segmentum Tempestus and Segmentum Solar war zones.

Over 1,500 years ago, Krieg suffered a rebellion that led to a brutal nuclear bombardment and centuries of warfare between Imperial Loyalists and Traitor forces. The conflict left the planet desolate and toxic, forcing survivors to live in underground hive cities.

Driven by a desire to atone for their ancestors' betrayal, Krieg’s regiments specialize in siege warfare and often exhibit an eerie disregard for their own lives. Despite the planet’s depleted population, a steady stream of new guardsmen emerges, giving rise to rumors of artificial methods to sustain recruitment. The average age of Krieg’s troops is said to be notably young, with rebreather masks possibly concealing their youthful appearance.
