On this episode of Global National: Quebec's month-long curfew is now in effect, in an attempt to curb its surge in COVID-19 cases. This makes it the first Canadian province to instate a curfew as a public health measure. But the new rules were immediately met with protests, as well as concerns police are being too heavy-handed with restrictions. Mike Le Couteur reports.

Pressure is mounting on Canada to ramp up its vaccine rollout, as new and more contagious variants of COVID-19 arrive in the country. Now, fears of worsening community spread are rising in Alberta, after the South African variant was detected there last week. Heather Yourex-West reports.

Plus, prominent Republicans are now joining over 200 U.S. lawmakers calling for President Donald Trump to immediately resign, after he incited a deadly riot on Capitol Hill last week. Meanwhile, Trump remains silent, even as Democrats prepare to introduce an article of impeachment. Jennifer Johnson reports.

And Canadian music legend Neil Young has sold a half-stake in his song catalog to an investment company that specializes in using popular music for advertising. Ross Lord explains why such business deals get some music lovers worrying about their favourite artists' legacies.
