Enchanted by his experience of Africa, Olivier Dubois invites us on an animist journey, where bodies dialogue with the cosmos on slow rhythms. In Souls, a piece for seven African dancers full of mysticism, he explores the capacity of each person to change their destiny, and thereby that of the world.
Inspired by the ballets of the Russian dancer and choreographer Nijinsky, the words of Mallarmé and the dreamlike music of Claude Debussy, Olivier Dubois features six dancers from African countries around a reflection on the "first gesture", the "first movement" , the original “dance”.
About Souls, Olivier Dubois writes: "I am made up of only one sensation, that of an African echo to the silent cry of this faun."
