
The proposal includes plans to spend 15 billion to modernise Britain's nuclear weapons as well as building new munitions factories and submarines.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey said "we are in a new era of threat, which demands a new era for UK defence", while outlining the government's defence spending plans.
It comes after Keir Starmer said the UK military was moving to "war-fighting readiness" and that the threat from Russia cannot be ignored.
