Ray Charles' approach of blending blues, gospel, soul, and jazz into something uniquely inspired and authentic has always inspired me. Every recording he's made is a masterclass in vocal inflection, and studying his vocal lines, vibrato, note bending, and rhythms is some of the best blues practice anyone could get. I've gotten a lot of requests for this tune, and other Ray Charles tunes lately... so here you go!
I tried a few guitars to see which one had the right voice for this song, and the @MuleResonatorGuitars "Mavis" stood out to me. Unplugged it sounds like a mix between a banjo and a resonator guitar, but once you plug it in, it has a surprisingly mellow, jazzy tone. The blend between the two tones is something I haven't heard with any other guitar.
