“Superworm” beetle larvae eat polystyrene, which may help recycle plastics

Enzymes produced by gut bacteria in larvae of the beetle Zophobas morio can digest polystyrene eaten by the so-called superworms. The enzymes could be adapted to degrade plastic in recycling plants.
