for those who were unaware, "Can You Feel Me?" was once an unreleased relic of the synthpop stage of Underworld; while originally intended for "Dubnobass" it was discarded early on, most likely because of "Mother Earth", another track with the same origins but with a more "modern" sensibility - two such tracks on "Dubnobass" would've diluted the new urban paranoia-soaked paradigm Underworld was trying to establish with the album. meanwhile, "Vocoder Monks" was a track exclusively available from Underworld's official website, uploaded there shortly after the release of "A Hundred Days Off"; while at a cursory glance "Vocoder" and "Feel Me" have very little in common, once you turn your attention to the drumbeat specifically, you feel incredibly silly for not recognising it immediately... or at least, i did xD

i've been sitting on this one for a while. for many days i wasted a lot of time trying out various total overhauls of each iteration, but decided finally to go back to my initial basis and just work from there; there's quite a lot going on rhythmically and texturally but melodically i retained the central samples from "Feel Me" as well as one loop from "Vocoder Monks" (it may have been the only sample from that track, but it provides the foundations for the whole thing.
