A man driving by stopped and asked him what he was doing. He found out that the boy was trying to find recycling scraps to sell for cash. He is a rural village boy.
He said his father in working in the city, in truth, his father abandoned him and his mother had died. He and his sister are raised by their grandparents. They are struggling. Because his grandparents are old and can't work.
Being from rural village doesn't help either. Very limited ways to make money. The man with the grandfathers permission brought him to a shop and let him pick out anything he wanted but he was very shy so the man helped him. He picked out a lot of food for the boy's family.
The reason he is so touched by the boy's story is because he used to be a village boy from a poor family as well. He had worked very hard to escape the village now he has a home, a car, and lives a decent life.
The sister is 13 years old, and the boy claimed he is 12 but he looked much younger. Around 8 or 9. He is in grade 2. He had perhaps lied about his age. His sister wants to be a teacher and he wants to be a firefighter. The man encouraged them to study hard and chase their dreams. Even left a phone number for them to call. He truly is an angel helping these unfortunate children.
