Filmed in 1998 for The Strange World Of Northern Soul, and filmed in Philadelphia where he lived. Billy was the singing barber, introduced to me by record store owner Val Shiveley. The six disc box set cost us £80,000 to make, filming over 150 artists, half of whom are dead now. It took two years of 20 hour days to make. I was hoping that by my business associates putting it up online that some soul fans might grow to appreciate it and might want to own a beautiful box set. Welcome to the Strange World of Northern Soul. It was a visual and musical encyclopaedia that explains and joyously celebrates the most fascinating and enduring underground dance scene. In 'The Strange World of Northern Soul' documentary, we look at the origins of the Northern Soul scene, understand just exactly what is Northern Soul and what has made it so special to so many people.
