As one of the most successful songwriters in American music history, Carole King (born in 1942 New York) composed or co-composed 118 pop hits that appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 during the latter half of the 20th century. Her major success began in the 1960s when she collaborated with her first husband, Gerry Goffin, to write over twenty hit songs. King created countless hits as a songwriter and achieved great success by singing and releasing her own albums. Her works have been consistently covered, and many artists have achieved success through King's songs. King and James Taylor conducted the 'Troubadour Reunion Tour' to commemorate their first performance at The Troubadour in Hollywood in 1970. They reunited with the same band they played with in 1970 to celebrate the 50th anniversary, and this tour was a commercial success.
Her passionate life is also reflected in her four marriages and four divorces, as well as in raising her four children. Additionally, she was active in environmental issues and political and social participation.
