It is essential to understand that having taboo intrusive thoughts does not mean that a person desires or intends to act on them.
It is also vital to understand that having taboo intrusive thoughts does not make a person morally flawed or dangerous.
Taboo intrusive thoughts are involuntary and are not reflective of a person's character or beliefs.
The primary difference between those with Taboo OCD and those without Taboo OCD is the level of distress when experiencing
taboo thoughts. Those with Taboo OCD experience an intense level of distress in response to experiencing taboo intrusive thoughts.
So let's set aside judgment or condemnation and let's practice compassion, normalization, and acceptance.
