This is a VL53LOX TOF or Time of flight Based LIDAR Laser Distance Sensor module. This is a cheap I2C sensor and it has 4 pins. Vin , Ground, SCL and SDA. This black component is the VL53LOX Sensor and it uses a 940 nm infra-red laser to determine the distance. The laser will reflect back to the receiver in the presence of any obstacle. So we can calculate the time of flight and hence the distance. We can interface this sensor module with arduino or ESP32 like this and make different projects with this. You can use this in drones obstacle avoider robots etc.. like this more content.
