Viking Sound System started in the early 1980’s in Peckham, South London, UK
Viking Sound was owned by Senator D, and the operator and selector was Joe Grine. The main DJ on the sound was Gilly Banton and later one of the most famous DJs in the UK - 'Top Cat' became Viking Sound's most famous DJ....
Mike Anthony and Tad Hunter were the main singers on the sound.
Viking played in a lot of blues dances in London in the early stages and in the late 1980’s played more bigger dances all over England with a lot of the regular big UK sounds systems of the time. In the late 1980s Viking also cut a lot of dubplates from Jamaica.
