More than 630 humanitarian aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip on Sunday, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the Security Council on Monday, with at least 300 of those trucks going to the enclave's north, where the U.N. says famine looms.
The trucks entered on the first day of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas.
"Regrettably, the situation in the West Bank continues to worsen with clashes, air strikes and animated illegal settlements, expansion and demolitions. I am deeply concerned about an existential threat to the integrity and contiguity of the occupied Palestinian territory of Gaza and the West Bank," Guterres added.
