Here is Adriren Zain, the third single of our Epic Celtic Music album Izei 🔥 It's a set that contains an Irish tune, Amhrán Na Leabhar, and two Breton tunes, An Dro and Son ar Chistr.

This song comes from a similar set of traditional tunes that I used to play with my friend Adri Carrasco. Adri, like thousands of other people, participated in peaceful protest acts in the context of Catalonia struggle for self-determination, and against repression from the Spanish state. He had the bad luck of being randomly picked by the Audiencia Nacional, a right wing ideological court that comes straight from the fascist dictatorship we had in Spain 46 years ago (this court's members and power were kept intact in the so called "transition" from dictatorship to democracy). Some judge decided that he was gonna serve as an example, so people would know what happens if you go out and exercise your protest rights. He was acused of terrorism and a bunch of policemen knocked on his door to arrest him before sunrise, as it would happen in an openly fascist dictatorship. This practice is unfortunately quite common in Spain, where thousands of people face repression (prison, exile, exhausting endless judicial processes, unpayable fines...) for protesting or challenging this murderous capitalist system in any significant way.

Fortunately, Adri could escape to Belgium and avoided prison. We had him in our thoughts a lot with Tartalo music when we were playing this set, so we named it "Adriren Zain", "Waiting for Adri" in euskera 💙 And finally, after 2 years and a half, Adri can return home and we're able to play music together again 🔥🎻✨ After being transferred to smaller justice courts, where the presence of fascist judges is smaller, it was proven that there is no evidence against him and it's all just another case of political persecution. The fact that his case has ben resolved, though, can't make us forget about the thousands of other people who's lives are destroyed by the Spanish state. And not just the Spanish one, this keeps happening all over the world and we need to keep speaking up, and don't forget about all the people that are in prison. A big hug for all of them, all the families, and everyone who keeps fighting for any kind of liberation 🔥 Stay safe!
