Chrispop plays 45s in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Münster, and all across the country regularly.
Chrispop has this to say about his mix:
'The older I get, the more I get into jazz (again). When I look at what LPs I bought at fleamarkets and record fairs over the last few years, apart from weird German stuff, it was mostly jazz classics and records I remember my dad played when I was growing up. We had an informal deal in my late teens/early 20s: I could grab records from his modest collection as long as I got him the album on cd. A Dave Brubeck Best Of was one of the first I remember listening to vividly. A few weeks ago I finally found his 'unsquare dance' on 45 (a german 4-track ep) and decided to do a mix of jazz and jazz-related stuff on 45s. Souljazz, hammond, a few covers, short detours to Africa, Brazil & Turkey. Lots of (re)discoveries I would have loved to share with him as he unfortunately passed away too early in 2022.
So in a way this mix fits the 'when i was young' theme. If he hadn’t taken me to concerts at the jazz club or played albums to to me, I don’t know if I would appreciate this music this much.
