The process was rapidly adopted across the world, and Australia was among the earliest to embrace it. By the 1890s, cyanide plants were being constructed in Queensland’s Charters Towers, Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, and Victoria’s historic fields such as Bendigo, Maldon, and Ballarat.
