Where'd You Get Your Funk From? is an open format focusing on the here and now, featuring a broad range of guests with interesting stories, experiences and perspectives to share. Guests will include new and established musical acts of any genre, authors, filmmakers, actors, athletes, artists, comedians, collectors and archivists, radio and podcast personalities, journalists, scholars, sound techs, concert promoters, photographers, and other creative, engaging and fascinating people. The approach freeform, unscripted, and minimally edited or enhanced. Some shows may even be streamed live.
A common thread is the opening question will always be, Where’d you get your funk from? The answer need not always be musical, as not everyone has found funk in that sense. Paraphrasing George Clinton, funk is whatever it needs to be to get you over the hump. Thus, many guests may respond by describing where they got their grit, perseverance, inspiration, talent, creativity, character or other qualities that shaped who they are today.
The show enjoyed its world premiere October 15, 2024.
